Third Party Certification for ENERGY STAR and Green Building Programs

We are proud to provide rating services to qualify new homes for the ENERGY STAR® label. ENERGY STAR® qualified new homes are substantially more energy efficient than homes built to the minimum code requirements. Even in states with more rigorous energy codes, the U.S. EPA ensures that ENERGY STAR® remains the symbol for truly energy efficient performance. These homes are good for businesses, consumers, and the environment.

Third Party Verification & Certification for ENERGY STAR® and "Green Building" Programs

As certified HERS Raters, we provide third party verification for the EPA & Department of Energy's ENERGY STAR® Program. We also provide third party verification of Green Building construction, through projected ratings (computer modeling of the building), and confirmed ratings (inspecting and conducting performance testing during construction).

Throughout the certification process, the home is inspected and performance tested. By inspecting the home during construction, we can insure that the best sustainable construction practices are followed. This will help to insure that the building and its systems perform at their most efficient, and that the building meets strict standards for sustainability and energy efficiency.

The process also creates an opportunity to work with the builder, employees, and subcontractors to grow their knowledge of sustainability, producing ever more durable and energy efficient buildings. When the certification process is complete, whether for ENERGY STAR® or a Green Building program, you can be confident that the quality and efficiency that you expect are an integral part of the finished home or building.

Implementing sustainable measures in your home may on the front end be slightly more expensive than non-"green" practices, but will pay a return on investment through the money saved on energy bills, a healthier indoor environment, and a healthier outdoor environment too.

What kind of return on my investment could I expect?

As an example, if you are building a new home and decide to spend a small amount more to upgrade the insulation, air seal the building envelope, and install ENERGY STAR® approved windows, doors, and appliances, the savings from those measures would not only in time pay for themselves, but would also return more on that investment year after year. It would also allow you to downsize your HVAC equipment, saving you money on construction costs & the lower your operating costs by using smaller equipment.
